Named for Wyandotte’s first recreation director

The Benjamin F. Yack Arena is a 3,000-seat public recreation center in downtown Wyandotte, which the City of Wyandotte's own page calls versatile. It is named for Benjamin Yack, who was commissioned in 1936 as Wyandotte’s first recreational director; the arena took his name in 1969.

The building is used for ice hockey and skating, with 25,440 square feet of floor space. It was previously the home of the Motor City Metal Jackets of the North American Hockey League and of the Wyandotte Figure Skating Club.

In the spring and summer months, with the ice out, the Yack hosts several indoor events, among them the Spring Fling of the Parish of St. Vincent Pallotti. Roosevelt High School holds its graduation ceremony there every year.
