Real ice on the Augustaplatz, 19 editions

The Eisarena Baden-Baden is a pop-up rink on the Augustaplatz, brought to the city for the 18th time in 2024 by initiator and sponsor Karlheinz Kögel. Its 19th edition ended in January 2026 with more than 20,000 visitors.

The ice is real and covers 525 square metres. The rink is roofed and closed at the sides, which the organisers say creates a refrigerator effect and saves up to a third of the energy, and the power comes as hydro-electricity from the Stadtwerke Baden-Baden.

The Kitzbüheler Hütte returned in 2024 after a break of several years, the youth team of the ESC Hügelsheim skated at that year's opening, and children from the Kinderheim Lichtental and Caritas facilities can use the rink free. Eisstockschießen lanes are set up on the Augustasee, and school classes can use the ice exclusively in the mornings.
