A roofed ice rink for two municipalities
The Sportzentrum Hirzi is run by the Trägerverein Hirzi, while its services are ordered by a simple partnership called Sportzentrum Hirzenfeld, made up of the municipalities of Münchenbuchsee and Zollikofen. The ice rink is roofed, so the centre says it is there for its guests in bad weather too, and it has taken part in the Energieagentur der Wirtschaft programme since 2016.
Several ice-sport schools offer courses for children and adults at the Hirzi, among them the HC Münchenbuchsee-Moosseedorf and the EC Münchenbuchsee. In winter the local clubs play their ice hockey games here, and the centre describes free skating as the time to warm up and recover.
Groups can try ice stock sport, an old folk sport with a likeness to curling: the Hirzi reserves the ice and provides the equipment. School classes can reserve a visit directly with the centre, which also works in cooperation with Cerebral, the Swiss foundation for the cerebrally disabled child.
