The Eisbahn Schüpfen is a seasonal ice rink on Schulstrasse in Schüpfen, a project that, in its own words, many people carry out together by working unpaid. Its page offers impressions from the rink's history from 2013 to today, and each winter from the end of November to mid February the rink becomes an atmospheric ice surface with a cosy event venue.
The municipality of Schüpfen supports the project every year: the municipal works yard staff take much of the work off the association during construction. All events on the ice are free, made possible by sponsors and donors. The skate counter is run by many volunteer helpers.
Besides open skating, the rink sets aside reserved times for ice hockey across the whole ice surface.
