Sweden's first ice hall built for figure skating, opened in 2024
Iskristallen Arena opened in spring 2024 as Sweden's first ice hall fully adapted for figure skating. The building covers 6,300 square metres with two ice surfaces, one of them with a stand for about 200 spectators. Solar panels sit on the roof, and surplus heat is reused for the café and changing rooms.
Two figure skating clubs rent their premises in the hall together from Borås municipality. Konståkarna Borås, started in 1975, has about 180 members including the skaters in its skating school. Its skaters compete in singles and synchronized skating events around the country, and its figure skating runs inside the upper secondary school day through the LIU scheme.
The clubs share the work of running the hall: members staff and clean the café and conference room together, and the proceeds go to improvements in the arena.
