Public skating at Kunsteisbahn Brünnli: the next 7 days
Currently out of season The Sportbetriebe Brünnli's pages give the 2026/27 ice season (28 August 2026 to 14 March 2027). A rink on the roof of a shelter, covered in 2005
The Kunsteisbahn Brünnli grew out of an appeal of October 1980 to build a sports facility on the roof of the planned civil-defence shelter Brünnli. The Sportbetriebe Brünnli AG was founded on 19 November 1981, and the rink was handed over to the public with an official celebration on 14 November 1982.
The facility was extended in 1991 with more dressing rooms and showers. The roofing took far longer than the build: almost nine years after the first building application the groundbreaking for the hall was on 3 May 2005, and ice operation began on 17 September 2005 after four months of construction. The hall cost 1.84 million francs, and the whole facility about 3.5 million.
The EHC Brandis and other hockey clubs use the ice, and the Eislaufclub Burgdorf, known for its synchronized skating teams, trains here as well. The rink also serves schools and free skating open to everyone.
