One of Europe's largest mobile ice rinks
The Wiener Eistraum has been part of Vienna's winter calendar since 1996 and counts among the largest mobile ice rinks in Europe. It covers more than 10,000 square metres with seven large ice surfaces, six of them connected, and the Sky Rink on the first floor, which now spans the whole width of the Rathausplatz.
Skaters reach the first floor by a 150-metre ice ramp. A staircase ten metres wide, modelled on the Spanish Steps in Rome, a step-free ramp and a lift lead there too. In the evening the beginners' area turns into an ice-stock lane.
Every Viennese kindergarten, school and after-school group gets free entry as a class on school days, and about 45,000 children use the offer each year. For the whole run the Rathauspark also holds a free practice area of 140 square metres of ice for children and another of almost 500 square metres for all ages. The event has carried the ÖkoEvent PLUS certificate since 2023.

Accessibility
The site is barrier-free, but wheelchairs, crutches and other walking aids are not allowed on the ice rinks, except on the two free practice areas in the Rathauspark.
