Open-air rink of 1966, roofed in the 2011 renovation
The Kunsteisbahn Weihermatt in Urdorf was inaugurated on 26 November 1966, then still with an open ice field. The renovation began after voters accepted an initiative for a building credit in October 2007 against the council's recommendation. In the 2011 renovation the many user groups gained a roof over their heads, and the renovated, now roofed rink was reopened with a festival programme on Saturday, 29 October 2011.
After its first winter, the roofed rink was better visited than before the renovation. The EHC Urdorf, firmly rooted in the village, plays on it, from its first beginnings on the Lips-Weiher to its present games on the roofed rink, and the municipality marked the rink's 50 years with a festival weekend in 2016.
