LA's largest outdoor rink: a seasonal holiday rink in Pershing Square for more than 25 years
Currently out of season The Holiday Ice Rink Pershing Square's home page says it is closed for the 2025-26 season and will return in November 2026; its other pages still show last season's dates, hours and prices. Official schedule update
The Holiday Ice Rink at Pershing Square has brought winter fun to downtown Los Angeles for more than 25 years, and it opens only seasonally. Willy Bietak Productions, a Los Angeles company, produces it, and the rink is a temporary winter installation in the park.
At 7,200 square feet it is billed as the city's largest outdoor rink, and its producers say it welcomes more than 45,000 skaters and 221,000 spectators a year. For the 2025-26 season its beneficiary was the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks.
That season's programs included Classical Sundays presented by Classical California KUSC, Learn to Curl lessons hosted by the Hollywood Curling Club, and DJ Spotlight nights. The rink stands in Pershing Square, which was renamed in November 1918, a week after Armistice Day ended World War I.
