One of the rinks older than the City of Mississauga
Clarkson Arena opened in April 1970 as the home of the Clarkson Hockey Association, and the combined Clarkson Community Centre and Arena was opened on February 28, 1971. It is one of a small group of indoor rinks that predate the City of Mississauga itself, alongside Cawthra Twin Rinks (1972) and the Chic Murray Arena at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre (1973).
Today the arena is one part of the City of Mississauga's Clarkson Community Centre, which also holds the Clarkson Branch Library and a full-size gymnasium. The single indoor rink has six dressing rooms and seating for 534 spectators, and LiveBarn provides video streaming of games from the arena.
Drop-in ice here follows the city's program pattern of Fun Skate, Adult and Older Adult Skate, Figure Skating Shinny, Hockey Shinny and Stick and Puck sessions, alongside ice skating lessons and an adapted ice skating program for children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities.
