Mississauga's four-pad arena, built in 1996
Iceland Arena opened in 1996, six years after Tomken Twin Arena, and has served Mississauga year-round for more than two decades. It has been in demand from minor hockey associations, junior teams, tournaments and provincial championships.
The complex holds four pads. Rink 1 is Olympic-sized, 30 by 60 metres, with seating for 1,200 spectators; Rinks 2, 3 and 4 are standard 26-by-61-metre sheets, each with heated seating for 300. The Mississauga Figure Skating Club and the Port Credit Figure Skating Club are affiliated here, as are the Greater Toronto Hockey League and the Mississauga Girls Hockey Association. The Mississauga Chiefs played at Iceland and the Hershey Centre.
In 2024 the city renovated the building to replace multiple building system components and improve its overall performance. The work included a redesign of Rink 2 for sledge hockey users with barrier-free features, and sliding doors from the lobby to Rinks 1 to 4. Construction started in March 2024, Rinks 1 and 3 reopened for rentals and programming that September, and the project was complete in November 2024.
