Named for a College Park civic leader

Herbert Wells Ice Arena is a 600-seat-plus rink in College Park, managed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. It is named after a former civic leader who served on the M-NCPPC and on the College Park city council.

The rink is open air under a roof: a semi-enclosed, NHL-size ice surface that runs a six-month season. Around the ice are an indoor warming room, a party room and a snack bar, plus a locker room with showers and vending machines.

Alongside public skating the rink offers freestyle sessions, private and group lessons, youth and adult pick-up hockey, and walkers and skate aids for new skaters. It is home ice for the Herbert W. Wells Ice Rink figure skating teams and the Wells Warriors youth ice hockey teams.
