Township-owned single NHL-size sheet open since 1974; the Flyers Cup moved here in 1984
The Skatium opened in 1974 and has been owned and operated by Haverford Township ever since, marking its 50th anniversary in 2024. It is a single NHL-size sheet that hosts hockey tournaments, youth and adult leagues and figure skating showcases, with summer skating camps and instructional clinics for both disciplines.
The building is the home rink of the Haverford Ice Hockey Club, the Haverford Hawks, the Saint Joseph's University hockey program and Inter County Scholastic Hockey League games. Figure skaters train with the Crossroads Figure Skating Club, which a group of volunteers managed until 2025, when the township assumed its administration. The Flyers Cup has been played here since 1984, when it relocated from the University of Pennsylvania's Class of '23 Rink.
