Two NHL-size sheets under a 70,756-square-foot roof since 2003, now owned by Black Bear Sports Group
The Igloo opened in 2003 as a 70,756-square-foot multi-purpose sports facility in Mount Laurel with two NHL-sized ice rinks. Black Bear Sports Group now owns the building.
The Igloo is the home of the Igloo Jaguars Ice Hockey Club, the South Jersey Monarchs and the UWHL Jaguars women's hockey team. Three high school hockey programs, Cherokee Chiefs, Moorestown and Shawnee, play out of the building, along with Foundry Adult Hockey. Figure skating is anchored by the Skating Club of Southern New Jersey, and beginners starting hockey here can use the rink's free gear program, which covers everything except skates.
The figure skating side carries two well-known coaching names. Evgeni Platov began coaching at the Igloo in mid-2009, and Rocky Marval is the rink's director of skating.
