Completed in 1983, with the O'Brien Arena added in 1992; home of the Pickering Panthers
The original part of the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex was completed in 1983. The O'Brien Arena was built as an addition, originally constructed in 1992, and the complex's two rinks are named Delaney and O'Brien.
The Pickering Panthers play here. The Panther tradition started in 1972 in the Metro Junior B league, and the team won its championship in 1985 as a Metro Junior B club. Pickering joined the Ontario Junior A league in 1998, and in the summer of 2010 the Panthers accepted a merger with the Ajax Attack while staying based in Pickering. In 2022 they won the OJHL's Buckland Cup and finished as runners-up in the Centennial Cup, losing to the Brooks Bandits.
In July 2026 the City of Pickering was set to approve a major renovation of the O'Brien Arena. The work covers a roof and wall cladding replacement, renewed facility systems and upgrades to the arena controls.
