Two 200-by-85-foot rinks, flooded in July 2023 and renewed inside for the first time in 25 years
Tecumseh Arena and Recreation Complex has two regulation-size ice surfaces, each 200 by 85 feet, with large dressing rooms, a community room with a kitchen and a small classroom. The main rink seats 497 plus standing room, and in summer the ice comes out of one surface to make a floor for lacrosse and trade shows.
The Tecumseh Shoreline Minor Hockey Association and Skate Tecumseh call it home. After the arena closed in 2020, councillors approved reopening one rink on August 10 and the second in September.
On July 2, 2023, a sewer back-up flooded the main level, damaging the floors and lower walls of the front lobby, public washrooms, offices, dressing rooms and canteen. The repair became a renewal of the interior, the first work there in 25 years, and the big staircase in the middle of the foyer is to disappear.
