Lakeshore's three-pad recreation centre, opened in 2014
The Atlas Tube Centre officially opened in Lakeshore in September 2014 with an arena of three ice pads, a gymnasium, a dance studio, an indoor walking track, a library, meeting rooms and a banquet hall. Ground was broken in July 2015 on a second phase built around an indoor aquatic centre, scheduled to finish in summer 2016. Stephanie and Barry Zekelman gave the building its name, and in April 2021 it was rebranded the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre to avoid confusion with the Atlas Tube manufacturing plant in Harrow.
The Lakeshore Canadiens of the Provincial Junior Hockey League play their home games here. They moved in from the old Lakeshore Arena, their home since 1978, after their last regular-season game there on January 31, 2014. The club was known as the Belle River Canadiens until 2014, and it has won the Clarence Schmalz Cup as provincial Junior C champions six times: in 1985, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2022 and 2024.
