LaSalle's two-rink Vollmer Complex

The Vollmer Complex is the Town of LaSalle's main recreation centre. Built in 2008, it is named after the Vollmer family of LaSalle. The 120,000-square-foot building holds two NHL-size rinks, one seating 1,000 people and the other 200, along with a pool with a waterslide, sauna and hot tub, a fitness centre and walking track, and fully accessible washrooms. It sits on 220 acres of fields, trails and parkland.

The fall skating schedule runs from September 8 to December 19. Weekday mornings bring an adult skate for people who want exercise, where hockey sticks are allowed but pucks are not, and a parent and tot skate for children up to age 4 with an adult on the ice. Recreational skates for all ages run on Friday and Sunday afternoons, and figure skaters have their own drop-in ice.

The town's ice rules are clear: skating aids and trainers stay in the neutral zone, racing, tag and other unsafe skating are not allowed, and staff strongly recommend a CSA-approved hockey helmet. An emergency phone in the penalty box connects directly to emergency dispatch.
