Built by the Metropolitan District Commission in 1966, near-outdoor ice for 44 years, enclosed in 2010
Daly Memorial Rink was built in 1966 by the Massachusetts Metropolitan District Commission, the same year Bobby Orr first played for the Boston Bruins. The MDC put up rinks of similar design in Charlestown, Dorchester and Cleveland Circle. For its first 44 years Daly offered what was virtually outdoor ice; the rink was enclosed in 2010 to extend the season and make the skating environment more comfortable.
The State of Massachusetts, through the Department of Conservation and Recreation, owns the rink. Newton Country Day School counts it, together with a boathouse, among its off-campus facilities, and the school's ice hockey teams use it in winter.
The current management dates from September 4, 2025, when EDGE Sports Global announced it would run Daly Rink in partnership with Newton Country Day School as the building entered its 60th year of operation.
