Somerville's state rink on Somerville Avenue, home of the youth hockey program veterans founded in 1964.
Loading public skate, freestyle, and stick & puck times for Veterans Memorial Rink…
Veterans Memorial Rink at 570 Somerville Avenue, next to Conway Park, is a Commonwealth of Massachusetts public rink overseen by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. The City of Somerville took over its maintenance and daily operations from DCR in 2010, and FMC Ice Sports has operated it for DCR since 2021.
The rink is dedicated to the veterans who founded Somerville Youth Hockey. In October 1964, Deeran and Hughes placed an advertisement in the Record American inviting anyone interested in forming a youth hockey program to a meeting at the VFW James A. Logan Post, and that fall 30 kids signed up for four teams.
Somerville Youth Hockey still skates here, along with Somerville High School hockey, the NEFS Somerville Bulldogs, the Boston Imperials, the Boston Rockets, the Boston Draft Experience and StinkySocks adult hockey.
