Fountain Square's rink, moved to Elm Street Plaza

The UC Health Ice Rink is a decades-old Cincinnati tradition that spent its winters on Fountain Square, set up each year near the giant holiday tree. In 2025 3CDC moved it two blocks to Elm Street Plaza, a two-and-a-half-acre park beside the Duke Energy Convention Center that opened that fall as part of the city's reimagining of the Convention District.

3CDC said the move would give skaters a bigger rink with more skating space, ringed by a warming tent, igloos with seating and fire pits. The outdoor ice can stay cold up to about 60 degrees in dry weather, but warm, humid or rainy days can close it for a while. Every two to three hours skaters clear the ice for 15 to 20 minutes while it is resurfaced, and the Warming Tent is open for anyone who needs a break. A live Skate Cam on the plaza's website shows the ice.
