Northern Kentucky's only year-round indoor ice rink

Northern Kentucky Ice Center in Crescent Springs is the only all-year indoor ice rink in Northern Kentucky. Its hockey lineage runs back to 1973, when a small group of parents founded the Northern Kentucky Youth Hockey Association and brought organized youth hockey to the region; the association first played its home games at the Dixie Ice Bowl, a small rink that was the cradle of Northern Kentucky hockey, before moving its home ice to the Ice Center as the sport grew.

The building has two ice surfaces: a full-size NHL rink used for hockey games, figure skating and public sessions, and a smaller studio rink used for stick time, beginner skaters, private parties and broomball. NKYHA, with a membership of roughly 250 players, families and volunteers, still calls the Ice Center home, and the Northern Kentucky Skating Club, founded in 1996, is the other resident club; many of its skaters got their start on this ice.

The rink has produced numerous national and international figure skaters, and its hockey players have gone on to junior and college hockey. NKYHA runs its 2026 Winter Instructional Program here.
