Miami University's Goggin Ice Center
From 1976 to 2006, Miami University's ice home was the Goggin Ice Arena, named, like its successor, for Lloyd Goggin, the former university vice president who was instrumental in building it. The Goggin Ice Center that replaced it was designed by 360 Architecture and GBBN Architecture and took 104 weeks and more than 41,000 man-hours to build, along with a 500-car garage.
Its A Pad, Steve Cady Arena, is home to the Miami RedHawks hockey and synchronized skating teams and has 2,800 general seats, 102 club-level seats, four opera suites and six private boxes, holding nearly 4,000 with standing room. The B Pad is used for recreational skating.
The Miami Jr. RedHawks youth hockey program has skated here since 2008, the center runs intramural hockey leagues from beginner to elite, and in March 2013 it hosted the USA Broomball National Championships, where the host Miami team won the collegiate title.
