From the 1974 municipal rink to the 2021 UCPA Sport Station
Meudon's first ice rink was approved by the city council on 5 February 1971 and inaugurated on 9 February 1974, in the young district of Meudon-la-Forêt. Its sheet measured 56 by 26 metres, with 768 seats and a three-lane curling rink added to the building; in 1983 only three French rinks had one. By the end, archery had replaced the granite stones and brooms.
Three clubs grew up on that ice: the Meudon hockey club, founded in 1976 as the club de la Forêt and renamed in 1982; the speed skating club ASMV, there since 1996; and the figure skating and dance club CMPAD, created in 1985.
The old rink was demolished to make room for housing when UCPA Sport Station Meudon opened to the public on 9 June 2021, in the Pointe de Trivaux redevelopment. The city of Meudon granted the UCPA a building lease with a 30-year operating term. The new sport rink measures 1,560 m² and has 600 seats for matches, and the UCPA says it is designed for the public and for ice hockey, figure skating and speed skating clubs, with 2,000 hours of ice a year.
