Kansas City Parks' rink in Frank Vaydik Park

Line Creek Community Center and Ice Arena is the Kansas City Parks and Recreation rink in Frank Vaydik Park, in the Northland just north of Riverside. The park was Line Creek Park until 1980, when it was renamed for Frank Vaydik, who ran the city's parks, recreation and boulevard system from 1964 until his retirement. The community center with its ice rink was one of the later improvements to the park, alongside ball diamonds, a football field and a soccer field.

The building is a 34,000-square-foot family recreation center, surrounded by woods with Line Creek along its edge. The arena offers year-round programs for figure skaters and the community, and the Line Creek Figure Skating Club calls it its home rink. The KC Fighting Saints youth hockey program practices and plays in the building, and Learn to Skate KC completes the list of clubs based at the rink.

The community center is a LiveBarn venue, so games and sessions in the arena are streamed live and available on demand for anyone who cannot make it to the rink.
