Skating round the Victorian bandstand

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland has been running since 2007, and its ice rink is billed as the UK's largest open-air rink, set under a canopy of twinkly lights and built around Hyde Park's Victoria bandstand. The event began as an open-air Christmas market with a small selection of temporary funfair rides, the ice rink and the Giant Wheel.

The rink moved from Hyde Park Corner to a new location on Mistletoe Avenue, and then finally found its home around the Victorian bandstand. Hyde Park is one of the capital's eight Royal Parks, covering 350 acres, and the rink stands in the Skater's Corner zone of the event. Winter Wonderland was cancelled for a year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ice rink operates in all conditions. Cameras and mobile phones are not allowed on the ice, and a professional photographer is on hand for souvenir photos. The spectacular Nutcracker On Ice was the first ever show on the event's brand new indoor ice rink, and the 2026-27 season marks its 19th anniversary.
