A west Chandler multi-sheet rink the Ice Den took over in 2014 and rebuilt to NHL standards
Ice Den Chandler became the Ice Den's second building in 2014, when the Scottsdale operator took over a sprawling, somewhat faltering multi-sheet ice facility in west Chandler. A renovation of more than $5 million followed, bringing the rinks up to NHL standards.
Hockey grew quickly after the takeover: between the Ice Den's first and second years here, Chandler's AA travel teams doubled to eight. The Coyotes Development Program has its own Chandler director, and the building runs its own Learn to Skate program with a Chandler-based manager. Synchronized skating has a home here too. In January 2022 the Ice Dennettes practiced at Ice Den Chandler with five teams and more than 60 skaters, and took three teams to a competition in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
When the Arizona Coyotes' players and hockey operations were sold to a Utah group in April 2024, the Ice Den stressed that its rinks were separate from the club. They are owned by Rainy Partners and the Burke family; Richard Burke is the man who brought NHL hockey to Arizona, and the family said it would continue to provide ice sports for the community.
