The only ice rink in Lawrence County
Hess Ice Rink started as a small idea in Neshannock Township in 1991 and grew into a project that gave Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, its only ice rink, a distinction it still holds. The rink is part of the township's Pearson Park, alongside the park's baseball field.
The building is a fully enclosed complex around one competition-style sheet of ice, used for hockey, skating lessons and public sessions through the year. The Lawrence County Lightning call it home, as do Wilmington High School Hockey, Neshannock Hockey and several adult hockey and competitive figure skating organizations that have grown steadily in size over the years. Figure skating has its own club here: Hess Ice Rink is the home ice of the Hess Figure Skating Club.
Lessons run through the Hess Skating School, whose 2025-2026 program is open to everyone from beginning skaters to seasoned players. The rink is also the home rink of Stephen Johns, a defenseman who played for the Dallas Stars.
