Alpha Ice, home of the Pittsburgh Vengeance
Alpha Ice Complex has three sheets of ice about 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, off Route 28 and I-76, and serves as home rink for more than 500 local hockey players of all ages. Its USA Rink houses the Alpha Training Center, which bills itself as the world's first one-on-one hockey training center with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Its best-known tenant is the Pittsburgh Vengeance. The club's youth program, the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey Association, has served the Pittsburgh community since 1993, and its junior team develops players for the NAHL, USHL and college hockey, with nine Junior Nationals appearances, a record the club says is unmatched in the region at the Tier III level.
The University of Pittsburgh's two ACHA men's teams play here, as do three PIHL varsity high school teams, and the rink hosts the season-opening St. Margaret Fall Faceoff tournament. Figure skaters come for regular U.S. Figure Skating test sessions and the annual Golden Blades Championship of Pittsburgh, an ISI competition open to all levels.
