Home of the Polar Adult Hockey League's North Conference
Polar Ice Wake Forest has two NHL regulation ice rinks. It is the training center for the East Coast Eagles, whose Tier 2 youth travel and junior teams play in the Empire and Eastern Junior Leagues, for RYHA from Tier 1 travel down to Tier 2 A travel, and for the Triangle Figure Skating Club.
House hockey runs through the Polar Hurricanes House League, and the Polar Adult Hockey League, which has four conferences, bases its North Conference here. Children start in Learn to Skate, move into Kindercanes or the Lil' Canes 1 class, and finish in the House League. The building also offers public skating, figure skating, hockey for adults and year-round Camp Chillin' for ages 6 to 12.
Weekend public skating from November through February is one of the rink's busiest periods, with higher attendance on the ice. In March 2026 the Polar group named its Raleigh, Cary and Wake Forest locations the busiest of its rinks.
