Boca Ice broke ground on April 24, 2021, as Boca Ice & Fine Arts, a 75,000-square-foot indoor ice rink and fine arts center with two rinks in a business park on Peninsula Corporate Circle. The rink announced it was finally open in January 2022.
The dual-sheet building sits just off I-95 and Congress Avenue. A mezzanine overlooks both sheets with a 28-seat bar at its center, the Ice Shack serves non-fried dishes and frozen hot chocolate, and a private Southside space has its own entrance to the ice.
In May 2022 Boca Ice partnered with the Florida Kings Hockey Club, a youth development program led by NHL alumnus Anders Erikson that is now based at the rink. The in-house Boca Ice Hockey Academy trains players, and the Boca Barracudas youth teams give Learn to Play graduates their first organized games.
