Opened in 2004 as the Prospera Centre
The Chilliwack Coliseum opened in 2004, after the Chiefs Development Group and the City of Chilliwack formed a public-private partnership in 2002 to finance, design, build and run it. It was first called the Prospera Centre, under a sponsorship agreement with Prospera Credit Union, and took its current name in 2019.
The 5,000-seat arena is home to the Chilliwack Chiefs of the British Columbia Hockey League. From 2006 to 2011 it was home to the Western Hockey League's Chilliwack Bruins, who moved to Victoria and became the Victoria Royals. It has hosted the Junior A ice hockey championship tournament in 2018, concerts and trade shows, and in October 2024 it shared the BCHL showcase with the Abbotsford Centre.
Ownership of the building reverted to the City of Chilliwack on May 1, 2025, with the Chiefs Development Group managing operations until May 1, 2026 while the City planned the transition.
