Olympic-size rink and home of the Surrey Eagles
South Surrey Arena stands in the middle of South Surrey Athletic Park, surrounded by forests and athletic fields. It is one of only two Olympic-sized rinks in the Lower Mainland.
The arena is the home of the Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Hockey League. The franchise began as the New Westminster Royals in 1962 and relocated to Surrey in 1991, and it played as the South Surrey Eagles from 1996 to 2003. The Eagles won the BCHL championship in 1997, then took the Royal Bank Cup in 1997–98 by beating the Weyburn Red Wings 4–1 in the final.
They won the BCHL title again in 2012–13, defeating the Penticton Vees in six games, and then won the inaugural Western Canada Cup with a 4–2 victory over the Brooks Bandits.
