Three buildings joined into one complex in 2008

The Port Moody Recreation Complex is the city's major athletic and sport destination. A series of additions completed in 2008 turned three existing components, an ice arena, a curling rink and a social recreation centre, into one athletic complex. The new components included a second ice arena, a double gymnasium with a running track, tennis courts, an artificial turf field and a fitness facility.

The new international-sized ice rink, with some second-level bleacher seating, served as one of the training facilities for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Port Moody currently has two ice sheets and one curling rink at the complex. In May 2026 council endorsed a Recreation Facilities Study to guide the next 25 years of recreation investment; it notes that both ice sheets are busy during peak hours and could become overcrowded within five years because of population growth, and staff identified the complex as the preferred site for a new indoor aquatic centre that would combine aquatic and arena services.
