Strathmore's twin-arena Family Centre
The Strathmore Family Centre hosts the town's winter ice sports: hockey, ringette and figure skating. It houses two surfaces, the Olympic-size Gold rink with seating for 580 and the NHL-size Blue rink with seating for 115. Inside are a concession, a lounge and a skate sharpening shop.
The Family Centre was home ice for the Strathmore Rockies, a professional women's team in the Western Women's Hockey League. In 2011 the Rockies merged with the Edmonton Chimos to form Team Alberta in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, the club that later became the Calgary Inferno. Strathmore is now home to the Wheatland Kings, who joined the Heritage Junior B league in September 2008, and was once home to the AMHL's UFA Bisons, who helped produce NHL players Peyton Krebs, Zach Boychuk and Mason Raymond.
In summer the ice comes out for indoor lacrosse, ball hockey and roller hockey, and the building also hosts concerts, weddings, trade shows and conferences.
