Established in 1972
South Windsor Arena was established in 1972 and has been part of the Connecticut Valley hockey community for more than 50 years. Over that span the building has hosted professional teams, concerts and film productions as well as ice hockey. Today it is an ice rink serving families, athletes and hockey players from across Hartford County and beyond.
South Windsor Youth Hockey Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the town, introduces and develops the game for local children aged 4 to 18. The association partnered with the New York Rangers to bring the Junior Rangers Learn-to-Play program to the arena. In the off-season, CT Valley Hockey Academy runs its player programs here with professional hockey player Drew Callin and Stop It Goaltending. The Hockey1 Spring Classic keeps players on the ice, building skills and skating with friends through the spring. Skaters who are not hockey players can start with the Basic Skills learn-to-skate program, and public skating runs year round.
