Two NHL rinks stacked double-decker inside a complex that opened in 1999 as a golf driving range
SportsCenter of Connecticut opened in 1999 as a golf driving range. Over the decades since, the Shelton site has grown into a family entertainment complex covering more than 20 acres, with over 150,000 square feet of indoor venues coupled with outdoor activities, of which the ice is one part.
The Rinks are the ice side of that complex: two NHL-size rinks built double-decker, one stacked above the other, the world's only double-decker NHL ice rinks. They are open year round for public skating, figure skating, Learn to Skate and a full range of hockey programs, with lessons for ages 3 to adult and learn-to-play hockey for beginners.
Spring brings tournament weekends. The Rinks at Shelton host spring hockey tournaments for age levels from Mites to Midgets, and each one guarantees every team three games plus playoffs.
