A single NHL-size rink built in a vacant warehouse on the old Conair site, open since July 2025
Stamford's Zoning Board approved Wings Arena in February 2023; the rink opened on July 21, 2025, and it marked its completion with a grand opening and ribbon cutting on September 6, 2025. The rink was built on industrial land once home to the original Conair building, where its parcel held a vacant warehouse. CEO Francois Magnant, also general manager of the Greenwich Skating Club, said the project started three or four years earlier because people who love ice sports were calling for more ice.
The single rink is NHL standard, 200 by 85 feet, and a wall of windows in the high-ceilinged lobby looks down on it. A 3,000-square-foot mezzanine and an expansive viewing lounge overlook the ice, with room for about 300 in stadium seating. The rink level has six locker rooms with showers plus a seventh flex room.
Magnant's stated aim is to foster a love of all ice sports, hockey and figure skating included. Wings runs adult hockey classes, a lunchtime game and an adult league, plus freestyle figure skating, and EN Hockey runs year-round training from its Stamford location in the building.
