Kensington Valley Ice House, now an Ice Cube
The BIGGBY COFFEE Ice Cube in Brighton was long known as the Kensington Valley Ice House. On February 1, 2024, Black Bear Sports Group, the largest owner-operator of ice rinks in the U.S., took over its operations and sold the arena's naming rights to Biggby Coffee, joining similarly named rinks in Ann Arbor and East Lansing among the three Michigan facilities the Maryland company took over.
It is a three-sheet facility, and the building also houses Chop Detroit, the Top Shelf Pub & Grub and the Perfect Edge Hockey & Lacrosse Pro Shop.
The rename did not change who skates here. It remains home base for the Ice House Skating Academy and the Kensington Valley Hockey Association, and for high school hockey from Brighton, South Lyon, Walled Lake Western and the Livingston United girls varsity team. Harmony Figure Skating, Brighton Ice AAU and the Foundry adult league also use the ice.
