An Olympic-size rink linked to a 1,300 m² leisure rink
Végapolis calls itself one of the few "sport and leisure" rinks in France, the rink of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole. Its sports rink covers 1,800 square metres with Olympic dimensions of 60 by 30 metres, and two ice passages link it to a 1,300 square metre leisure rink. That leisure rink, billed as France's first, has changes of level, an ice slide, a lit tunnel and a sound-and-light show.
The stands hold 1,200 spectators. The building is home to the hockey team Les Vipers, which plays in Division 2, and to two skating clubs, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Patinage and Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Sports de Glace, along with its own ice school.
In the evening the rink becomes a party space with themed sessions and a resident DJ. During some public sessions the rinks turn into an Ice Parc, with sliders, scooters and wave boards used on the ice. A snack bar, the VégaSnack, sits next to the rinks.
