Two ice sheets and a 700-seat stand at Sin-le-Noble
Polarys has two ice sheets and stands for the public, and sits next to the Boulodrome de Douaisis. The leisure rink measures 30 by 26 metres and is meant for beginners and families, and the same 780 square metres are used for team-building days and group introductions. The competition rink is ringed by a 700-seat stand that can be extended to 1,700 seats for large skating events and competitions.
The building recovers the heat given off when the ice is made and feeds it back into its own installation and into the Sourcéane aquatic centre and spa, and it carries 800 square metres of solar panels.
The rink organises events for families through the year, including themed evenings. Beyond skating it offers ice karting, broomball, described as a hockey-inspired game open to novices, and holiday courses for children aged 6 to 12.
