Santa Clarita's city-owned rink, formerly Ice Station Valencia

The Cube opened on April 12, 2021, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that returned ice to the City of Santa Clarita. The building had been Ice Station Valencia, owned by Roger Perez, who also owned the Valencia Flyers, a junior franchise founded in 2001 in the Western States Hockey League. The rink closed at the end of the 2019–20 season under the COVID-19 shutdown, and the closure was made permanent by the financial losses, leaving Ice Station Valencia on the brink of closing for good until the city council voted unanimously to acquire the building for $14.2 million.

The city's renovation produced three sheets across 93,000 square feet: an NHL-size rink, an Olympic-size rink and a small third sheet called The Pond. Each rink can be covered with an insulated floor for conventions, concerts and filming. The LA Kings and American Sports Entertainment Company manage the building in partnership, and it is the home arena of the UCLA Bruins men's ice hockey team alongside public skating, hockey and curling.

Expect it cold: about 54 degrees inside the arena. The Cube runs multiple hockey tournaments every year and hosted the West Coast Hockey Conference playoffs, a 12-university league drawn from California, Arizona and New Mexico, in both 2025 and 2026.

Booking & check-in

Group discounts ($1 off per skater for 15+, $2 for 30+, $3 for 45+) apply only to groups buying admission and skate rental in person in a single payment; groups of more than 50 are asked to call 661-257-2823 in advance so the rink can staff for them.

Skating with children

Skate aids rent for $14 each and are only for children under 54 inches tall, a safety limit because taller skaters would have to bend too far over.
