A South Bay rink of more than 50 years, known for a Thursday ice dance session that has run for decades.
Skating Edge Ice Arena has served the South Bay from Harbor City for more than 50 years, and it is now managed by The Sports Facilities Companies.
For more than 50 years, Thursday nights at the rink have meant ice dance. The session began under the South Bay Figure Skating Club, and when the club disbanded the rink took it over. It once admitted only skaters who already knew how to ice dance, then opened up over time to younger skaters and newcomers, and one skater has skated and coached on it for more than 30 years.
The rink is also a hockey home, with youth and adult leagues, clinics, the Bay Harbor Red Wings and the LMU Hockey team, alongside public skating and freestyle ice.
