A year-round NHL-size rink in west Houston, open until December 14, 2026, when redevelopment closes it
Ice Skate Memorial City is the year-round indoor rink inside Memorial City in west Houston, the center MetroNational's founder Joseph Johnson developed and dedicated in August 1966. The NHL-standard rink was added in renovations that ran through 2004, and Sports Facilities Companies manages it today.
The rink is home to youth and adult hockey programs, figure skating and seasonal shows. It runs adult hockey leagues, offers freestyle practice ice six days a week, Monday through Saturday, and stages a Nutcracker on Ice each December; the 15th annual production performs on Saturday, December 5.
This is the rink's final season. It was due to close on July 31, but MetroNational adjusted the planned redevelopment work so the rink could stay open from August 1 to its final day of operation, Monday, December 14, 2026, when hockey games and practices there also end. MetroNational has said it will consider keeping the ice open longer if the redevelopment timeline is materially delayed.
