A 1973 Ramsey County rink, renamed in 2000 for Peanuts creator and St. Paul native Charles M. Schulz
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
Highland Arena opened in 1973 with one sheet of ice, one of the many arenas Ramsey County built in the 1970s. That original sheet, now the South Rink, is a no-frills classic with a small lobby and tiny locker rooms, and a very cold arena with excellent hard ice in winter. The adjoining North Rink was added in 1998.
In 2000 the Ramsey County Board renamed the Highland Park Ice Arena in honor of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, who grew up in St. Paul, played hockey at Saint Paul Central High School and entered the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983. A Peanuts on Parade "Highland Hockey" Snoopy statue stands in the lobby.
Both sheets are 85 by 200 feet. The North Rink seats 500 and keeps its ice year-round; the 100-seat South Rink has ice from mid-September to mid-April. The arena is home to the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders and Highland Capitals hockey programs.
