Olympic-size ice in one of the Salt Lake Valley's largest rec centers

The ice arena at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center is an Olympic-size indoor rink inside a building of about 160,000 square feet, one of the largest recreation centers in the Salt Lake Valley. The center grew in phases from a 1971 pool building nicknamed the Spa, and today the ice arena shares the roof with four indoor pools, a basketball gymnasium, an indoor track and racquetball courts.

It is run by the Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Service Area, which residents and the Salt Lake County commissioners created on July 26, 1967 as Salt Lake County Service Area No. 2. The service area took its current name in 2000 and has served the City of Cottonwood Heights since the city incorporated in 2005.

The arena's ice partners are the CH Figure Skating Club, Jr. Grizzlies Hockey, Star Lit Blades, Utah Mammoth Youth Hockey and an adult hockey league, and the Junior Grizzlies run its learn-to-play hockey sessions. In September 2026 the rink set aside four days of freestyle ice for the Oktoberfest Skate Competition.
