Rady Children's Ice Rink has brought seasonal outdoor ice to San Diego for 29 years. It began with a vision to put an outdoor rink in the city and raise money for kids with cancer, and it is staged each winter in partnership with the Rady Children's Health San Diego Auxiliary, the ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station and San Diego Ice Arena.
More than 30,000 people skated there in 2025, and the rink has raised over 2 million dollars for the Thriving After Cancer Program at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. Net proceeds support that program at the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
The ice is cleared for the Zamboni between sessions each day. Weekends from Friday night to Sunday can be very crowded, while weekdays and weekday evenings are the quiet times to skate, with places to dine and shop around the plaza.
