Tampa Bay's Oldsmar skating academy
Tampa Bay Skating Academy's Oldsmar building has two rinks, which made it the official home of the Tampa Jr. Lightning Hockey Club in 2013. It is also the founding location of the Tampa Bay Skating Club, affiliated with U.S. Figure Skating.
Its juvenile pairs teams won gold, silver and gold at sectionals over three seasons, training four to six hours a day, six days a week, under coaches that include one who took a pair from the beginning level to the Olympics.
The rink hosted Tampa Bay's first Red Bull Crashed Ice qualifier, and was the first rink in the area to get the job of hosting the event. Organizers chose it because it had an NHL-size rink and the best ice time, and it hosted its 4th annual charity hockey tournament in 2013.
