Unionville's indoor rink since 1928
Crosby Community Centre houses Crosby Memorial Arena, an indoor rink built in 1928 on Main Street in Unionville. The arena is named for the Crosby family of Markham Village, who came to Markham in 1806 and established themselves as farmers, landowners and storekeepers.
The building holds one 79-by-185-foot ice sheet, next door to the Varley Art Gallery, along with the Lamplight Room and a community hall that hold events for up to 180 people. The City of Markham runs registered and drop-in programs here for children through older adults, including public skating on the arena's drop-in calendar. The Unionville Skating Club also lists Crosby Memorial Arena as one of its program locations.
Unionville proper, unlike other Markham communities, has no dedicated community centre, and the arena is the only major sports venue in the area. The rink is not a year-round sheet: in 2026 the City listed the Crosby rink closed from May 30 to September 7, its summer shutdown before the skating season.
