Home rink of the 2018 Clarkson Cup champions

Thornhill Community Centre opened in 1975 on Bayview Avenue at John Street, sharing its building with the Thornhill branch of Markham Public Library. In 2004 and 2005 the town planned a major expansion of the centre to add a seniors centre and a therapeutic pool, and the Thornhill Seniors Club, which runs activities for members 55 and older, is based in the building today.

The arena side is a twin pad: two NHL-size sheets of 85 by 200 feet, each with six dressing rooms, and a heated viewing platform in the seating area that people using mobility devices can reach. Thornhill Figure Skating Club calls the centre its home facility, the Markham Waxers list it among their venues, and the Toronto Blue Ice Jets name it as their home arena. Women's professional hockey played here too: the Markham Thunder of the CWHL held their home games at the centre and won the 2018 Clarkson Cup as playoff champions.

The library branch was renovated in 1989 and 2010 and reopened in 2011. In May 2025 the city announced a major energy retrofit of the centre, with some amenities affected while the work runs.
